HEAL KU

Health - Education - Advocacy - Leadership

Our Mission

HEAL KU is a student-led organization at the University of Kansas committed to building sustainable relationships with local organizations and advocating for ethical service in order to develop more conscientious community members. We strive to foster a culture of advocacy and social justice education at our meetings and in the service work we provide to students. Partnered with the Lawrence Community Shelter (LCS), we enjoy serving them through volunteer work and fundraising. LCS focuses on addressing the needs of those struggling with homelessness in Douglas County by housing families, building homes, gathering supplies, and providing comfort for those seeking shelter there.HEAL KU is working with LCS to establish online and in-person volunteering opportunities that encompass a range of skills and interests for KU students while helping the shelter with their current projects. HEAL KU is also establishing volunteer opportunities with many other organizations in Lawrence and beyond in both online and in-person capacities. At HEAL KU we are committed to social advocacy in conjunction with our service and host discussions about pressing social justice issues in our communities before we serve.
